5 Reasons why I love to celebrate Valentine’s Day (and so should you!) + V-day themed family photo shoot!

I know Valentines Day can get a bad rep and people can say it’s a cheesy or pointless holiday. I have personally always loved to celebrate Valentine’s Day! I’m here to give you some insight and fresh perspective. Hopefully, this little post will encourage you to always choose to celebrate! Here are 5 reasons why I love Valentine’s Day!

1. Growing up my mom was (and still is) the queen of Holidays and parties. She would find new ways for us to celebrate things. We even made up our own holiday called Snowflake Day in January. January and February are two of the dreariest months here in the Midwest. It’s after all the crazy festivities of the Holidays are over! It’s a time we need something to look forward to, to get us through a lot of gray sky days! That is why I LOVE to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s something fun to look forward to during an otherwise mundane, even kind of yucky time of year.

2. I know Valentine’s Day can have a bad reputation of being gooshy, pointless, or cheesy. Yes, a lot of the focus can be on romantic love. However, I challenge you to take a different perspective, no matter what season of life you are in. If you’re single ( or even if your aren’t) host a Galantine’s Day Party! This is something I really want to do next year! I would love to let my daughters host a mini Galantine’s with their friends as well! How fun and cute would that be?!? Have all your girlfriends over and do crafting or cookie decorating or just chat and laugh and eat yummy treats! If you use Pinterest, there are tons of incredible ideas on there for Galantine’s Day!!!

3. An obvious reason I love Valentine’s Day is because, it focuses on three of my personal favorite things! I know this one may not apply to everyone but, Pink is my favorite color! Heck yes to having a reason to deck my house out in pink garlands and hearts! Secondly, I’ll take any extra chance I can to celebrate love. Whether that’s God’s love, the love I have for my husband and children, the love between my family, the love for my friends or the love Jesus has given me to share with anyone and everyone around me. And lastly, who doesn’t love an excuse to indulge in some chocolate?!? DUH!

4. Reason numero four! Going along with the theme of what I said above..there is always a reason to celebrate love!! I’m so incredibly thankful for all the people directly in my life that I get to love on! Anytime I get a chance to celebrate them or do something special for them, I’ll take it. I’m even more thankful for the love Jesus has for me! He loves me enough that he chose to die for me and free me from the bondage of sin and death! He has given me joy and peace and freedom and healing and all the promises written in His word! He loves you the same way! Now, I get to share the love of Jesus with my family and friends and everyone around me. That’s worth celebrating!

5. I’m ending on this! Life is too short for Valentine SCR❤️❤️GES!!! If given the choice to celebrate or not celebrate, always choose the latter!! Holidays can be different for each of us. We get to choose how we celebrate and what makes a Holiday special or memorable. Whether you’re a little extra and the “go all out” type like me or you like to keep it low key and simple, we can all choose to celebrate in our own unique way! There aren’t rules! It can be as simple as a handwritten note to someone special in your life or heart shaped breakfast on February 14th morning or as over the top as a Galantine’s Day bash and waking up to 30 heart shaped pink balloons in your bedroom (?? hubby.) However you choose to celebrate, I hope this encourages you to do something special with/for the ones you love. Don’t let the commercialism side of a Holiday keep you from creating your own special traditions and memories!
