DIY: Make Your Own Leather Camera Strap

Hi guys! Im super excited to be sharing with you, MY VERY FIRST BLOG POST! I’m making this one quick and simple but, oh so lovely! I am going to be sharing with you how to make this beautiful and comfortable leather strap for your camera! This strap only cost me $10 dollars to make!

You are going to need a few items before we get started!

1 Realeather strap- $8.99 (or less) at Hobby Lobby

2 Split rings- $3.49 at JoAnn  (for pack of 48 rings)

2 D wire rings- $4.99 at Hobby Lobby (for pack of 10 rings)

Gorilla Glue

Some type of clamp or something heavy (To hold leather together while the glue dries.)

I purchased my leather strap at Hobby Lobby. The original price was $8.99. However, you can save on this one of two ways. The first is to check your local ad and wait until this particular brand goes on sale for 50% off. Hobby Lobby marks new brands and items 50% off every week!! If you are impatient like me, you can use the online coupon they offer for 40% off. Hobby Lobby ALWAYS offers a 40% off coupon! You can find it at this link.

Step One: Slide one of your D rings onto your leather strap. Decide how far you want to fold it over. I folded mine about 2 1/2 inches.

Step Two: Apply your Gorilla Glue carefully to the leather. Now, hold the two sections of leather together and apply your clamp or heavy object!

Tip: Try to keep the glue in the center of the leather strap and do not apply it too close to where your D ring will sit. The glue will spread when you push the leather together.

Step Three: Clamp the leather together or put some sort of weight on it while it’s drying. Now,  just wait for the glue to dry! I would give your strap 24 hours of drying time before using it! Be patient ladies (and gents!)
Last Step: Attach 1 split ring to each of the D rings on your strap. Now, evenly line up your strap and attach the split rings to your camera body! YOU’RE DONE!

Can you believe how simple that was?!?! And inexpensive?!?

These camera straps look so pretty and rustic and classy and durable! I’ve been using mine for quite a few months now and, they are holding up incredibly well! I also can’t get over how comfortable these are!

Note: I did notice that the beige leather is already buttery soft from the start where as the darker color will probably need to be broken in.

Thank you so much for being here! I can’t wait to see all the beautiful, leather camera straps you create! Be sure to tag me on social media!

Have a wonderful day! See you soon!
